Q: What made you consider dental assisting?

A: My sister told me she was looking into dental, and recommended I check it out

“Employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 18 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations.” – Bureau of Labor Statistics

Q: What did you do before this?

A: Meandered; worked part time at my sister’s day care, racked up tens of thousands of dollars in student loan debt, and needed to find a job to pay it off

The average salary for dental assistants is $35,980/year according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Q: Were you concerned with the stereotype that dental assisting is mostly for girls?

A: Didn’t think about it until the first day of class – it’s never bothered me

Even though our classes are predominately women, we have had several men go through our program as well.
