Easy and Delicious Lunches to Take With You to Work

Having a demanding job can sometimes make life a little bit tougher. One prime example of this is how a busy work-life can negatively impact your diet. Often times, when you’re on the go, you may forget about packing a lunch and are forced to find something fast to squeeze in during your lunch break. Eating fast food like McDonald’s or Wendy’s frequently can increase your cholesterol, blood pressure and can even increase your odds of having heart disease or diabetes.  To combat the rise of American obesity, try meal prepping your lunches to take with you to work! This way you can ensure that you’re putting the best ingredients into your meals, resulting in an overall happier and healthier you!

Here are some examples of easy, delicious and healthy lunches to bring with you to work!

Meal prep = Veggie + Protein + Starch

The basic guide to building a great lunch is to incorporate veggies, protein, and starches. The key to doing this in a successful way is to balance each one, and adding the best of each ingredient. This allows having a variety for many different meals! The graphic below explains how to get the best out of this food formula.

Turkey Taco Salad

Turkey Taco Salad Meal Prep Recipe

This is a fun meal for Taco Tuesday (or for any day of the week, too!) that will leave your taste buds and stomach happy. One of the best things about this recipe is that it uses ground turkey, which has risen in popularity because it’s healthier in comparison to beef. You can make dinner with ground turkey and just set aside however much you want for your lunch the next day! Then, add the taco seasoning and you’re good to go!

Turkey Spinach Pinwheel

The last of my favorite lunches is the turkey spinach pinwheel. This recipe is great because it takes a fun twist on a typical turkey sandwich. Making these pinwheels is fun and they taste great, too! The key to this lunch is to include lots of fruits and vegetables to accompany the pinwheels. You can choose whichever fruits and veggies you like!
